DUNDEE BIGHT & ONTO CHECKPOINT 1
Looking forward to be heading off Bathurst Island and on towards Dundee Bight
Claire with her head gear on as we briefly encountered some low cloud & high winds
Images of navigating across the frozen sea ice!!
Kev skiing across the frozen sea and beyond whilst heading onto Palmer Pt in the distance
Arriving at Palmer Pt and nearing our location we planned to stop at for the evening
A small group ice rumble fields we skied past!
After 19 hour day we camped by Thornton Point for 6 hours rest. (N76.10.000 W100.34.000)
We wake up from our camp to find baby Polar Bear foot prints 20 yards from our tent!! OMG..
Closer picture of the baby Polar Bear paw prints close by our tent next morning
There was a lot Polar Bear activity in the area that day, it was taunting and very scary time!
Scenery pictures we took on route during the day.
Stopping for a quick 2 minute break after coming through a tough ice rumble field behind us
We had a very long day with 21 hours non-stop ahead of us to reach Checkpoint 1
Occasionally after a long day I’d offer to pull Claire’s Pulk for a few hours to help as teammates
1.45am and another 2 hours to go before we finally reach our first checkpoint and briefly rest!
